Kurzfassung englisch:
A transient finite element analysis is utilized for calculating the no-load voltage shape of a 31.5 MVA synchronous generator with salient poles. Since the generator is equipped with an integer slot winding, the damper winding on each pole is shifted by +-1/4 of the slot pitch to improve the voltage shape quality. For the numerical computation it is necessary to take into account the influence of the damper winding. The presented 2D finite element analysis allows for a mapping of the damper winding bars to appropriate elements in a coupled electrical circuit. The calculated results are compared with measurements.
