Kurzfassung englisch:
This diplomathesis deals with the fabrication and characterization of Co/Pt-multilayers, with a thickness of only a few nanometers. The structure and magnetism of magneticmultilayers composed of modulated ferromagnetic non-ferromagnetic layer shave attracted much attention in recent years. Especially Co/Pt-Multilayers with large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and Kerrrotations have received considerable interest with regard to application for highdensity datastorage.
The multilayers are deposited in a triodesputteringsystem on various substrates. Depending on the individual cobaltlayer thickness and also on the number of periods in the multilayer a perpendicular-to-plane orientation of the magnetization should be achieved. The Co/Pt-multilayers with perpendicular interface anisotropy can be patterned by means of ionbeam irradiation through a lithographically made resist mask without significant modification of the surface roughness or of the filmīs optical properties. The patterningprocess should allow control of the magnetization reversal. Thus, adjoining regions with very dierent magnetic properties, such as perpendicular versus in-plane magnetization can be created.
