Kurzfassung englisch:
The accurate calculation of eddy current losses in the stator clamping
system of large hydro generators is a matter of particular interest with
the initial design and the design optimization. Due to the nonlinear
magnetic behaviour of the clamping plate, these eddy current losses can
reach high values and produce local thermal problems. The paper compares
results obtained from 3D time-harmonic and 3D nonlinear transient finite
element analyses in the end region of a 450~MVA hydro generator with
regard to local and total eddy current losses.
