Kurzfassung englisch:
The Illbricant performance of an ambient medium is very often conelated to viscosity and other indirect properties due to lack of measuring teclmiqlles for the direct effecting characteristics. Functionality of lubricants in most cases is connected to the
ability to reduce friction and wear. Conceming the substitution of conventional mineral oil prodllcts due to economic and ecologic reasons, future will lead to sophisticated tasks in industry. Therefore, it is a strong need for principle and fundamental knowledge of lubricating performance and wear behaviour conceming new lllbricating fluids. The investigations must focus on interactions between lubricants and lubricating fllels and tribological stressed surfaces. But still this wear behaviour is not fully understood in micrometer and particularly in nanometer range.

Therefore, we like to propose a novel measllring technique to investigate lubricant perfonnance in conelation with materials, functional components (e.g. piston ring and cylinder liner tribo-contact), and further interesting tribological impacts (e.g.
temperature, inclination, particles and load). This measuring technique allows for online investigations of wear behaviour of a model system for time and cost saving model tribometer tests.
