F. Franek, E. Badisch, A. Merstallinger:
"Research on Tribology Systems under Special Conditions - Hot and Vacuum Tribology";
Hauptvortrag: 18th International Colloquium - Tribology - Industrial and Automotive Lubrication, Stuttgart, D (eingeladen); 10.01.2012 - 12.01.2012; in: "Tribology - Industrial and Automotive Lubrication - Book of Synopses 2012", TAE, (2012), ISBN: 3-924813-97-3; 9 S.

Kurzfassung deutsch:
Only comparatively few publications address tribosystems that have to undergo extreme working conditions. Nevertheless,
many industrial applications, production and power plants, and vehicle and drive systems have to proof operational
reliability under different temperature levels and/or atmospheric situations. Even worse conditions have to be considered
when additional malign stresses are relevant, such as erosion, coarse abrasion, and impacts. Research on those topics
became more and more relevant both from an economy and as well safety point of view. The present paper addresses
exemplarily several tasks in this field. The actual research work at the Excellence Centre of Tribology and some partner
institutions is sketched. For that reason an overview over some relevant test equipment is given. The research directions
are shown on the basis of selected tasks, their peculiarities, methodology, and specific solutions.
