English abstract:
This paper presents SPEAR, a virtual processor component for embedded real-time applications. Using an FPGA platform for development and prototyping we have been able to implement a scalable and modular concept with remarkable real-time capabilities. The flexibility of reprogrammable hardware further allows us to supply a powerful set of development tools including even an on-chip fault injector FIDYCO.
