English abstract:
This paper provides some preliminary results toward establishing the initial building performance signature for the Intelligent Workplace (IW). This is a "living laboratory" constructed at Carnegie Mellon University to perform research on sustainability and habitability issues in the context of the built environment. In particular, the IW will be used for the systematic and comparative assessment of innovations in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning), enclosure, interior, lighting, and telecommunication components and assemblies.
