English abstract:
This paper presents a simple method to estimate the effective sound insulation of a double wall with openings for natural ventilation. The method is based on the results of parametric laboratory measurements using a modular double wall system with multiple opening possibilities. Thus, various system parameters (e.g., size of the
openings, location of the openings and their relative placement in the two layers of the double façade) can be explored in view of their affect on the sound insulation of a double layered building envelope.
