Gewinns

There is no project without any risk. Otherwise we would not regard the upcoming
task to be worthwhile. The challenge is to deal with concerns and uncertainty before
those become a crisis or a major problem for the succuess of the project. Many papers
discuss the basic concepts and techniques of Risk Management. After a short summary
of the theoretical background this thesis deals with practical implementation of Risk
Management. It descibes how important risk management is and its uses for small
and medium-sized businesses (SMB). The process of Risk Management will vary in
style and execution. In order to compare di erent processes this thesis uses the 5-step
maturity levels of the Capability Maturity Model to create a maturity model for Risk
Management. This model will allow an assessment of Risk Management in the case
study. The case study will deal with a SMB to show the meaning and the value of
Risk Management in these businesses.
