English abstract:
The switching frequency harmonic distortion of the mains phase currents of a VIENNA Rectifier II (a single-stage, high-frequency isolated, three-phase PWM rectifier system) is compared with the harmonic distortion of a conventional PWM rectifier system. The normalized harmonic power losses are calculated in analytically closed form by application of the space vector calculus. In the upper modulation region there is a substantial reduction of the harmonic power losses for the VIENNA Rectifier II, but both systems show equivalent maximum peak values of the mains current ripple. For the dimensioning of the mains series inductances of the VIENNA Rectifier II the database available from conventional PWM rectifier systems can therefore be used
