English abstract:
Permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines can be designed to have a high effective saliency. Therefore, these machines offer better torque capacity and power factors compared to conventional synchronous reluctance machines. A nonlinear finite element analysis is used to obtain the inductance and torque characteristics of a 5 kW machine with two pole pairs and a field-weakening range of 5.33:1. Comparisons are given with the torque characteristics of the normal reluctance machine. In addition, the characteristics of the complex stator inductance are evaluated. These show a high suitability of the investigated machine for an application in position-sensorless drives.
