Kurzfassung englisch:
Conventional solar power inverters used in mains connected and local grid applications fight with the disadvantage of high current ripple at low degree of modulation. Here, especially the quantization effects of digital PWM-generators combined with the large input/output voltage ratio lead to undesired current harmonics. To overcome this problem in standard inverter structures (c.f. Fig. 1.) relatively large mains coupling inductors are necessary, leading to higher system weight and costs. The topology presented here uses a multilevel inverter structure to improve the shape of the mains current. It is well suited for solar power inverter applications operating from a DC-link higher than the maximum amplitude of the mains voltage.
