Kurzfassung englisch:
An important consideration when optimising the performance of lubricants used in dental instruments is the physiological and toxicological aspect. Three model tests are performed on commercial lubricants and a new type of lubricant which does not contain physiologically harmful substances; the results are then discussed on the basis of experimentally determined wear on the samples. It was noticed that the tested commercial lubricants have pronouncedly different behaviour depending on the model test. In addition the results achieved with typical gear material show that using only the material specified in DIN standards or usually used in tribometer tests is not sufficient.
