English abstract:
An accurate determination of the eddy current losses in the clamping
plates of large hydro-generators is a matter of particular interest in
the machine design. The paper presents both an analytic calculation
method as well as a 3D nonlinear transient finite element analysis to
evaluate these losses in the end region of a 500 MVA hydro-generator.
The results of both methods are compared with the values obtained from
measurements on this machine.
