"Finite Element Calculation of Eddy Current Losses in the Tank Wall of Power Transformers";
Poster: IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC), Madison, Wisconsin, USA; 2003-06-01 - 2003-06-04; in: "Proceedings of the IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC)", (2003), ISBN: 0-7803-7818-0; 1167 - 1173.

English abstract:
To maintain quality, performance and competiveness, the finite element
method is increasingly utilized not only for the verification of
contractual values of existing transformers, but also for the design
optimization of transformers. The paper presents 3D finite element
analyses of power transformers in the range of 30~MVA to 200~MVA with
the aim of an optimization of the tank wall shape and the tank wall
shielding with regard to eddy current losses. Thereby, novel modelling
strategies for the nonlinear eddy current carrying material will be
investigated. The results obtained from various finite element analyses are compared with measurements.
