English abstract:
This paper presents a low-cost real-time ball tracking and trajectory estimation system for tennis,
soccer and handball. The system uses two monochrome cameras to track the ball at 25 frames per
second. It can handle ball speeds up to 250 km/h and repetition rates of up to 0.6 s and shows good
robustness against background motion. The achieved deviation accuracy is less than half the ball
diameter in average. The system has been developed to provide players with statistical information
about their playing accuracy to help them optimizing their training.
