English abstract:
Due to the nonlinear magnetic behaviour of the clamping plate, the eddy
current losses in the stator clamping system of large hydro generators
can reach high values and produce local thermal hot-spots. Therefore, an
accurate calculation of these losses is a matter of particular interest
with the initial design and the design optimization. The paper compares
results obtained from 3D nonlinear transient and 3D time-harmonic finite
element analyses in the end region of a 450~MVA hydro generator with
regard to local and total eddy current losses.
