"Applicability of magnetostrictive amorphous trilayers for thermal sensors";
in: "Soft Magnetic Materials 16 - Volume 2", Verlag Stahleisen, 2004, 609 - 614.

English abstract:
The study concerns agglutinated trilayers as thermal sensors. The trilayer is built up by a magnetostrictive layer fixed between two counter layers or a counter layer between two magnetostrictive layers. Different thermal expansion coefficients of the layers yield an elongation of the trilayer by temperature change and thus a mechanical stress of the magnetostrictive layer. Corresponding permeability changes are used to register temperature, the sensitivity being of the order 1-2% of permeability change per Kelvin.
