Kurzfassung englisch:
The permanent magnet excited transverse flux machine is well suited in
particular for direct drive applications of electric road vehicles. The
concept of such machines consists of a two or three phase arrangement
with an appropriate mechanical angular shift. All phases contribute to
the electromagnetic torque independently with only less interaction. Due
to the appropriate electrical shift of the phase currents, the resulting
shaft torque is comparatively as smooth as with conventional induction
machines. Nevertheless, higher harmonics of the electromagnetic torque
and significant shear stresses occur in both rotor carrier and shaft.
Therefore, the minimization of the cogging torque represents one of the
most important optimization criterion.
