English abstract:
An accurate calculation of eddy current losses in the stator clamping
system is a matter of particular interest with the electrical design
phase of large synchronous generators. Due to the nonlinear magnetic
behaviour of the clamping plate, the additional losses caused by higher
harmonics of the end region field have to be considered with the loss
calculation. Therefore, the influence of the third harmonic wave due to
magnetic saliency and stator core saturation will be discussed by using
3D time-harmonic and 3D nonlinear transient finite element analyses for
a 450 MVA hydro generator.
