English abstract:
The slab reheating process turns out to play a key role in order to satisfy the steadily increasing demands on the quality of hot rolled steel plates. For the application of modern model-based control concepts to the furnace automation a reconstruction of the slab temperature evolution is required. Therefore, in this paper an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is applied to a mathematical model of a
pusher-type reheating furnace to estimate the slab and furnace wall temperatures. The feasibility and benefit of the EKF is demonstrated by a comparison with a commonly used open-loop simulator approach.
