English abstract:
The supporting of DVB-H and HSDPA standards in third generation networks opens new possibilities for providing multimedia services. It was highly inefficient in third generation network up to release 4 to provide streaming services with bit rate above 128kbps. The nowadays UMTS terminals have not sufficient processing power to stream video above 128kbps. These factors constrain the bit rate and resolution to QCIF format.

The new standards DVB-H (Extension of DVB for handheld devices) and HSDPA (Extension of Release 5) allow providing of multimedia services on higher data rates and resolutions.

The task of this thesis is to make subjective quality assessments for different video content classes in CIF resolution. Furthermore, find a mapping between the perceptual video quality and a set of objective coding/transmission parameters.
