"Asymptotic error expansions for stiff equations. Part 1: The strongly stiff case";
Report for Technical Report Nr. 67/86, Institut für Angewandte und Numerische Mathematik; 1986.

English abstract:
In this paper we derive an asymptotic expansion for the global error of the implicit Euler scheme applied to stiff nonlinear systems of ordinary differential equations. Part 1 is devoted to the strongly stiff case. It is shown that in strongly stiff situations a full asymptotic error expansion exists at all grid points. Our analysis is based on singular perturbation techniques.
