English abstract:
Since the need of public transportation became obvious in the congested urban areas of India a metro concept was developed for the capital New Delhi by Indian authorities represented by DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation). The Joint Venture IMCC, consisting of the partners DYWIDAG (Germany), SAMSUNG (South Korea), L&T (India), SHIMIZU (Japan) und IRCON (India), got the contract to build the first underground metro line in Delhi. Experience shows that an increase of the project size leads to an exponential increase of organisation and management requirements. With a length of about 7 km and a contract sum of about 400 million dollars the Metro Delhi Project MC1B was unique worldwide. Therefore a methodical development of a concept for survey, monitoring, data-, staff- and subcontractor-management, instrument- and car park-administration was required. The implementation and adaptation of the concept was difficult because of the non-availability of similar projects in the past and the actual conditions in India. It required high performance in organisation and strong personal commitment. The project covers a huge conglomeration of tunnelling techniques: the installation of a tunnel segment factory, Tunnel Bore Machines (TBM), Earth Pressure Balance Machines (EPBM), the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) excavation for underground tunnels and stations and the construction of stations and structures with diaphragm walls are only some highlights of the project. The responsibility for the conception and organisation of all survey works, optical monitoring and tunnel guidance was with the Chief Surveyor (author) from the company Geodata GmbH, Leoben, Austria.
