Kurzfassung englisch:
'Range Imaging' (RIM) denotes the image-wise capture of three-dimensional point clouds employing simultaneous time-of-fl ight measurements. This relatively new technique combines and supplements essential strengths of Photogrammetry and Laserscanning, the most widely used methods for automated bulk point acquisition today. This way, RIM potentially plays a major role in the further evolution of surveying engineering. The present article outlines the measurement principles, the state-of-the-art and possible applications.
