M-type ferrites of the composition Sr-xSmxFe12-xO19 were produced by hydrothermal synthesis. The anisotropy and the coercivity increase slightly with Sm substitution (up to x = 0.25). The temperature dependence of HA looks very similar to that of the unsubstituted material. The Mossbauer parameters like the hyperfine field and the
quadrupolsplitting stay constant with Sm substitution Also, the magnetization at room temperature is not affected by the replacement of Sr by Sm.
