A survey of the magnetic data of substituted M-type ferrites of the composition Ba1-xLaxFe12-xCoxO19 and Sr1-xLaxFe12-xCoxO19 is given. The anisotropy and the coercivity increases with Co content (up to x = 0.25). At low temperatures some anomaly in the SPD signal was found which is not due to a spin reorientation. The coercivity can be explained applying a modified nucleation type model.
