Abstract

Magnetization and Mössbauer-effect measurements were carried out as a function of temperature and external magnetic field of up to 15 T on small sigma, Greek-Fe100−xCrx (45less-than-or-equals, slantxless-than-or-equals, slant50) samples. Average magnetic moment per Fe atom, <small mu, Greek>, and the Curie temperature, TC, were determined. Both of them were found to linearly decrease with x: the former at the rate of 0.033 small mu, GreekB/at% and the latter at 6.7 K/at%. The results are compared with those from the literature and are discussed in terms of localized and band models.
