Abstract

The magnetic domain size of melt-spun Nd60Fe30Al10 has been determined by means of small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). An average domain size of 300 nm was found. High resolution electron micrography and magnetic measurements revealed the precipitation of Nd-rich multi-phases embedded in an amorphous matrix. The 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy showing two peaks in the hyperfine field distribution with high and low moment values, respectively.
