Abstract
The rare earth alloy Ho40Gd60, ferromagnetic at the ambient pressure, was examined by means of magnetic susceptibility measurements under hydrostatic pressure up to 9 kbar at temperatures 4.2-300 K. Increasing pressure causes the appearance of an antiferromagnetic structure. The effect of hydrostatic pressure on the temperature range where antiferromagnetic phase occurs was found to be much smaller than the effect of uniaxial pressure.
