Kurzfassung englisch:
Electric current passage in the contact zones between the raceways of the rolling elements and the inner or outer ring of a
ball bearing may cause damages at the surfaces of the metallic components and deterioration of the lubricant. These
damages may result in bearing malfunction. Additionally, high frequency currents and pulse currents have been observed
in frequency converter driven machines. The physical effects resulting in bearing currents, especially EDM - (electric
discharge machining) - currents, and their influence on damages at the surfaces of the bearing components are
investigated. Systematic correlations between specific damages and the operating conditions of bearings shall be
ascertained. For this purpose, a test rig was designed to investigate bearings under EDM-stress.
