Kurzfassung englisch:
Kinetic electron emission (KE) induced by hydrogen and noble gas atoms impinging on low indexed metal surfaces has been studied by coincident time-of-flight and electron number spectroscopy. Due to the small angle of incidence projectiles travel along well defined trajectories ("surface channeling") with large distances of closest approach. Potential electron emission and promotion of quasimolecular levels can therefore be excluded as source of electron emission.
