Abstract

Heat capacity studies performed on CePt3Si and on Ce0.2La0.8Pt3Si reveal Schottky-like contributions around 40-50 K, indicating that the first excited crystal electric field (CEF) level is well separated from the ground state doublet, in agreement with our previously performed inelastic neutron scattering experiments. This fact indicates that both, superconductivity and long range magnetic order are governed from a CEF wave function associated with a ground state doublet.
