Abstract

We report on resistivity, specific heat and magnetization measurements carried out on the novel compound CeCu2Mg, which crystallizes in the hexagonal GdPt2Sn structure type. CeCu2Mg shows typical Kondo lattice features, with a very high γ value of about 1000mJ/mol K2and a characteristic temperature TK of about 5 K. Long-range magnetic order does not set in above 1.5 K.
