W.S.M. Werner:
"Surface Sensitivity of Electron Spectroscopy Techniques- Status-Quo and Perspectives";
Vortrag: Seminar, Universita di Roma Tre, Italy; 14.11.2006.

Kurzfassung englisch:
The strong interaction of low and
medium energy electrons with solids leads to the strong surface sensitive of electron
beam techniques, making them very attractive for investigation of the chemical, electronic,
magnetic, compositional crystalographic structure of solid surfaces. The physical
mechanism for transfer of signal electrons from the source to the surface will be
presented and illustrated by means of relevant applications. These include: electron
backscattering, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,
Auger electron spectroscopy and Auger-photoelectron coincidence spectroscopy. Future
trends in experimental investigations of electron solid interaction, in particular
based on time resolved electron spectroscopy and coincidece techniques will be presented
in the second part of the lecture.
