"Method for monitoring biotechnological processes";
Patent: Österreich, Nr. WO 2002082061; eingereicht: 05.04.2001, erteilt: 17.10.2002.

Kurzfassung englisch:
The invention relates to a method for monitoring biotechnological processes while using microorganisms, which is characterized in that both the process medium as well as the microorganisms in the process medium are directly spectroscoped in the infrared region on an ATR crystal while using attenuated total reflection (ATR). The process medium containing the microorganisms is brought into contact with the ATR crystal so that the microorganisms arrive at least at a distance from the ATR crystal that corresponds to the penetration depth of the evanescent field, and the process medium is spectroscoped in the infrared region during this contacting. The process medium containing the microorganisms is then removed from the ATR crystal, the ATR crystal is washed and is optionally brought into contact once again with the process medium containing microorganisms. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method.
