Derivs. of the (1R,4R)- and (1S,4S)-2,5-diazabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane ring system I and II are prepd. in enantiomerically pure form via cyclization of proline derivs. III and IV (R = p-MeC6H4SO2) with MeNH2. The target compds. are precursors of antibacterial quinolone carboxylic acids.
