Kurzfassung englisch:
Carbophilic reaction of 2-lithio-1,3-benzodithiole with CS2, followed by the addn. of a second base equiv. and quenching with MeI, yields 2-[bis(methylthio)methylene]-1,3-benzodithiole. An unexpected pathway mediated by MeS- and leading to the reformation of the 1,3-benzodithiole anion is described.
