"On-line monitoring of pH junction in capillary electrophoresis using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry";

Kurzfassung englisch:
Fourier transform mid-infrared spectroscopic detection is proposed as an on-line detection technique for the study of on-line preconcentration processes in capillary electrophoresis (CE). The direct molecular specific information contained in mid-IR spectra can be used to directly determine the chemical composition of individual zones and their boundaries. This poster reports on pH junctions employed in myoglobin analysis when using a ammonium BGE (pH 9.25) and an acetate buffer (pH = 4.5). On-line mid-IR detection allowed monitoring the shape of the sample peak as well as the chemical composition of the surrounding zones. From this information detailed insight in the actual chemical composition of the individual zones governing the efficiency of the applied pre-concentration technique could be gained. The outlined measurement principle may thus be regarded promising also for the investigation of other on-line pre-concentration techniques like stacking, sweeping as well as pH junction-sweeping among others.
