English abstract:
The paper describes a smart transducer interface that hides the internal node properties and allows a decoupling of applications from communication properties like message timing, flow control and bus access. The smart transducer interface incorporates three different interfaces, for real-time service, diagnostic/maintenance and configuration/planning. A further decomposition of a real time system will be provided by hiding the sensor properties behind a data structure that represents a model of the environment the sensors are observing. This data structure can be serviced by a sensor fusion node and reduces the complexity of the application.
An application of the presented concepts is described in a case study featuring a mobile robot.
