Kurzfassung englisch:
This paper discusses accessing fieldbus systems via web services over the Internet or intranets, having simplicity and interoperability as advantages. For this purpose an architecture is proposed, in which web service implementations connect to gateway nodes of fieldbus systems. Three use cases show the potential of this approach for configuration, management, and non-real time control. Intelligence to protect fieldbus systems against compromising accesses from the Internet or an intranet is provided as the so-called automatic validation. It rejects all accesses not conforming to the specification of the web service's interface.
