English abstract:
This thesis introduces an application, called StarVIS, that supports the creation and manipulation of Interactive Stardinates. The concept of Interactive Stardinates is a new information visualization technique capable of visualizing complex data. The data are presented in form of a star which provides the user in exploring and analyzing the data.
Together with my colleague Jürgen Salaböck, we have designed and developed a tool for this visualization technique. Jürgen concentrated on the computer graphic issues of the application, whereas I focused on user interface design and interaction. Starting from problem field we specified the requirements and described the design and development considerations of the new system. The model driven development with UML (Unified Modelling Language) supported us to develop the prototype.
The result of our project shows that Interactive Stardinates are a valuable visualization technique and the prototype of StarVIS is an appropriate tool to manipulate them efficiently.
