Kurzfassung englisch:
We have shown in our past work that the standard configuration of Time-Triggered (TT) Ethernet unifies real-time and non-real-time traffic within a single coherent communication architecture. In this paper we present the design of a fault-tolerant configuration of time-triggered Ethernet, which unifies the real-time traffic of fault-tolerant applications as well as the real-time and non real-time traffic of non fault-tolerant applications into the same communication platform. TT Ethernet guaranties the temporal properties of the real-time traffic and prevents error propagation in the presence of component and communication faults. The advantage of this solution is that Ethernet traffic is handled in conformance with the existing Ethernet standards of the IEEE. The design of fault-tolerant time-triggered Ethernet has been driven by the requirement of certification of safety-critical configurations and by an uncompromising stand with respect to the integration of legacy applications and legacy Ethernet hardware.
