English abstract:
The design of computer systems includes validation
techniques to show that the system provides the
required services. In the case of a fault tolerant system
it must provide the specified services also in the
presence of faults. Currently, fault tolerant systems
mostly impose a distributed configuration. One
important fault class in safety critical distributed
systems is the one addressing communication faults
due to stressing environmental conditions. In some
application domains, like the automotive domain, even
in low current signal connections, electrical contact
failures are still 30% of all failures [1]. Therefore it is
important to include contact failures in the validation
process of communication channels. One part of the
validation process is to investigate the behaviour of a
fault-tolerant distributed system in the presence of
these faults. Tools as BUFI, here presented, can ease
this task.
