English abstract:
For the purpose of optimization of the performance of automobile tire treads in winter conditions, the traction mechanism of rubber blocks moving on snow-covered road surface is numerically investigated. A viscoplastic "critical state" material model, formulated within an algorithmic framework for finite deformation elasto-viscoplasticity, is used to model the constitutive behaviour of snow. In order to overcome numerical difficulties resulting from high distortions of finite elements, an adaptive modification of the geometry of the distorted elements is employed in the simulations. The numerically obtained results are compared with respective results from experiments.
