Kurzfassung englisch:
The two volumes of Proceedings comprise both the invited and the contributed papers presented at the EURO-C 1994 International Conference on Computational Modelling of Concrete Structures, held in Innsbruck, Austria, from 22nd to 25th March 1994. The EURO-C 1994 conference represents a sequel to two successful predecessors - two prestigious Concrete Mechanics Colloquia held in Delft, Netherlands, in 1981 and 1987, and the two acclained international conferences on Computer Aided Analysis and Design of Concrete Structures, ICE 1984 in Split, Croatia and SCI-C 1990 in Zell am See, Austria.

Recent developments in computational mechanics of concrete and concrete like materials brought closer together various modelling formulations and their theoretical frameworks. Many current models and issues related to discretisation both in space and time, especially in dealing with reliable predictions both in space and time, especially in dealing with reliable predictions of post peak behaviour, seem nowadays to transgrees boundaries between traditional concepts like plasticity, damage mechanics or fracture mechanics.

On the other hand, the analysis capabilities and the level of sophisticated consitutive modelling research sometimes exeed the actual applicability of these methods and models to real structures, or frequently the required experimental data are not available.

Consequently, the conference did not only discuss current research in computational mechanics and constitutive modelling, it did also aim at establishing to which the current computational modelling of actual concree structures can benefit from research advances.

The papers in part I and II of the Proceedings have been organised around six major topics, each section starting with the invited c

Part I - Damage, Plasticity and Fracture; Localisation and Failure; Transient Processes - Creep and Temperature Problems

Part II - Dynamics and Seismic Loading; Section Type Models, Automated Design Procedures, Safety and Stability; Sructural Concrete

We sincerely hope that these Proceedings will serve as a significant reference text, by identifying, clarifying and assessing numerous aspects of computational modelling of concret structures and their applicability and relevance in practice.

Finally, the editors would like to thank the members of the Technical Advisory Panel for their support and efforts in reviewing the abstracts during the selection process and the authors for their cooperation in contributing towards the success of EURO-C 1994.
