This paper addresses a method to avoid slip oscillations of contact nodes resulting from lack of C_1-continuity of finite element discretizations in order to stabilize the contact algorithm for 2D contact analyses. Based on the actual finite element boundary, a virtual boundary with C_1-continuity is established. The respective consistent contact matrix is derived. Selected numerial examples have demonstrated the effectiveness of the method.
