English abstract:
The purpose of this paper is a synthesis of material modelling of the mechanical behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) and numerical analyses of real-life structures by means of the finite element method (FEM). The employed material model for the reinforcement and concrete are based on plasticity theory. The interaction between steel bars and the surrounding concrete in consequence of bond slip is considered in the framework of calibration of the concrete model. The described material model is applied to the numerical analysis of an RC cooling tower shell. Different calculation strategies are taken into account. Beside analyses based on uniform meshes, analyses using adaptive mesh refinement are performed. The design of the adapted meshes is controlled by means of error estimation.
