Kurzfassung englisch:
The philosphy of most research projects at the Institute for Strength of Materials of Vienna University of Technology are characterized by the synthesis of experimental work, constitutive modeling, and computational mechanics. In this paper, two projects demonstrating this sythesis are presented: (i) constitutive modeling of wood and application of the resulting material model to the investigation of a wooden joint, and (ii) constitutive modeling of early-age cement-based materials as a prerequisite for the analyses of tunnels driven according to the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM).
