English abstract:
In spring and summer 1996 the village Klingfurth (Lower Austria) was flooded three times after heavy rains. The brook was regulated in the early 70ies, but neither stream gauges nor precipitation gauges were installed.

The present thesis is one part of a comprehensive investigation concerning the flood of May 17th, 1996. The purpose of this thesis is to anlyse the flow strucure during the flood and to estimate the maximum discharge during this occurrence. Neither the amount of rain nor the grain size or the roughness of the river bed was known. Discussing different approaches concerning the estimation of the bed roughness, especially the Manning- coefficient, and of the flow velocity, a possibility to define the input parameters for the discharge calcu-lation without any data except photographs and a digital elevation model (DEV) of the catchment area was to be found.
